Underwater Archeology Presentation by Dr. Mark Holley

Please mark your calendars for the July 12th presentation in the Community Meeting Room, at the Leelanau County Government Center, by Dr. Mark Holley, What’s In The Bay Anyway? This is an amazing presentation of the work done by underwater archaeologists from Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) and divers from the Grand Traverse Bay Underwater Preserve Council. Sites surveyed, using acoustic technology, include a 10,000 year old petroglyph, turn of the century shipwrecks and large deposits of cultural debris from the 1930’s and 1950’s.

A Social Gathering will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the 7:00 p.m. presentation. Please RSVP and feel free to forward this invitation to anyone you think may be interested in attending.
