Classic Boat Show Returns to Suttons Bay July 21

Inland Seas Education Association will be hosting the Classic Boat Show in Suttons Bay on Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. This event, being held in conjunction with the Leelanau Peninsula Wine, Food & Music Festival, will be held at the Inland Seas Education Center, 100 Dame Street, Suttons Bay, Michigan. The Classic Boat Show is family-friendly and free.

The Friendship Sloop Liberty will be available for 2 hour cruises during the Boat Show
The Classic Boat Show was held annually for 25 years until 2004. Inland Seas plans to revive the show and make it an annual event. “We are pleased to bring the Classic Boat Show back to Suttons Bay”, said ISEA’s Executive Director Tom Kelly. “This event will bring together a diverse group of sailboats, motorboats, canoes, kayaks, rowboats and prams and will give the public a chance to meet the owners and see these boats up close”.

This year's Classic Boat Show is dedicated to the memory of Mark Pleune, who was involved in putting on the show for most of its 25 year run.

Activities include sailing trips aboard the Friendship Sloop Liberty and the classic motor yacht Liberty. ISEA’s 77’ Schooner Inland Seas will be open for dockside tours. ISEA students and staff will demonstrate wooden pram and canoe building and there will be a nautical flea market all day.

A registration form for boat owners is available online.  Please call the ISEA office 231-271-3077or Ken Cerny at 231-228-2010 mkcerny@centurytel.net for more information. For more information please go to our Classic Boat Show web page.

PS: If you have any nautical items you would like to donate to our Nautical Flea Market, please give Ken Cerny a call.  Thanks.
